I knew of at least two 78-79 F150's that ran around here(south louisiana) with factory installed 460's. Used to race one with my 67 big block Stang. That one is still on the road. One other I heard of was loaned out to a customer while his truck was in the shop at a local dealer. When he brought the 460 truck back in, it was missing most of the rubber off the rear tires
I can actually find you a Chevie S10 with a factory installed 454. I basically agreed it was done but they are EXTREMELY rare according to the production numbers I could find. No solid set in stone numbers just the percentages that I listed, if someone can find production numbers other than that please post them because from what I can find those trucks should be worth in the 10s of thousands of dollars.
I've only seen the C10 trucks with a 454... they are snorty, I've got the 8.1 (496 CID) in my work truck... that sucker will lay down the rubber like nobody's business, can't pass a gas station though.
I've seen a couple 79 2wd F150s with the 460. Typically a special order scenario... most people at the time wanted a truck that was in stock at the dealership... which would have been the smaller displacement engines in most cases.
