Ok, I gave my JL componet speakers, that were in the doors of my 03 F-150, to my brother-in-law yesterday (dont ask me why). My question is I still have my 4 Channle 300 JL amp. Can I hook that up to my Factory Papper Cone Speakers? Will it sound better till I get some new door speakers? Or will it blow the speakers? I have never amped factory speakers before so I just dont know how it will sound. Thank you
Scotty
I'd go ahead and just hook the stock speakers up until you get some new ones. As long as you don't crank that amp up all the way, things should be good to go.
It will sound better than being powered by the HU, but of course, don't crank it. I think it will sound okay for a while, but I wouldn't run them very long with that kind of power.
thanks Jerome and maticuno, I think that is what I am going to do. I dont plane on running them too long a few mounths maybe. Jerome what do you think I should go with to replace the door speakers? I really liked the JL componets. Stay with those or what? Also Ive thought about doing the kick pannel thing for some componets. Is it worth it, or should I just put them in the door? Thanks again for the help.
Scotty
How much are you willing to spend? I think JL is a really good choice, but Focal is as well. Personally I think Focal has a crisper high, and JL Audio (and Eclipse) has a silkier sound. But this really depends on how you like it. For a better soundstage the kick panel's are great, especially since being components with crossovers.

Thanks, im really not worried about money. I think im going to stay with the JL's because that is what I have always used. im going to look into kick pannels. If I do that what should I do about the door speakers?

Fullranges would be cheaper for the door speakers if you get the components in the kickpanels. Or you could build a better sound stage and get component there and add the tweeter from it into the A-pillar aiming towards the windshield.
