snoopypup,
That will work. My 304 (Jeep) has a PVC valve in the rear of the intake, a tube in front of the intake to fill oil and no holes in the valve covers.
Does your PVC just have a tube going to the carberator?
The PCV valve has to be connected to manifold vacuum on the hose end and to the crankcase area with the opposite end. Then an air inlet, whether breather cap with filter or oil fill cap with a hose to the air cleaner is needed SOMEWHERE else on the engine. The easiest is the valve cover or the oil fill tube. The farther apart the two items, the better, since more time for the circulation to pick up contaminants.
snoopypup,
Yes, the tube coming off of the PCV valve goes into the bottom of the carburetor. The oil fill tube has a ventilated cap. This is the way the vehicle came and works fine.
Thanks! Seems simple enough. I now just need to figure out how to mount the pvc. Seems a block off plate with a grommet/hole to put the pvc valve should be the ticket.

Jeff
duct tape works wonders.
My pcv had no hose and the oil cap had no hose either. I have the motor torn apart right now and will hopefully be putting it back together this weekend. I will connect up all the hoses as stated by this thread, thanks FTE.
I think that there is like a ball bearing in that PCV valve that gets sucked up and blocks most of the line during high vacuum operation such as crusing or idle. During low vacuum operation the ball bearing falls and and closes off the line.
Remember they (who's they?) say to shake the thing and if it rattles it's good?
When you are sucking the fumes out of the crankcase with a PCV valve you will be drawing air in either through the air cleaner or thorugh the little "brillo pad" in the cap of the oil fill tube.
If you are getting a lot of blowby gasses out of the fill tube or the valve cover oil fill then you may need a ring job or maby your PCV valve is blocked.
I have an edelbrock rpm manifold and moon valve covers so I had the machine shop mill a boss and tap it for a gromet. I used a pcv valve for a big block, i think a 429 if I recall. I also had them tap the manifold for a fill hole, and use a crome fill tube and a crome cover that is like rounded at the top, has holes on the lower lip and has that filter material inside.
Since I have lower vacuum than stock because of the cam I wonder if I could make a better selection of my pcv valve. Anyone Know?
