Wondering if anyone has had this problem. I have a '04 FX4 SCab, 11,500 miles, bought it new. There's a soft pecking noise (sounds like two rods lightly hitting together) coming from either the drivers side door or under dash. It does it every time I drive, sometimes I might drive 10 -20 miles before it starts. It's random seems to be more intense when going uphill accelerating. I took to the dealer twice, but on the drive around we didn't hear it. The tech said he took the door panel off, said there was a rod that was not in a guide, said he put back, but that didn't fix it, I believe he lies. I have been under the dash, and taped up everything I could find. Can't find it.
I had a similar noise. It may come from the cable that comes through the firewall just to the left of the accelerator. Follow that cable up to where it fits into a metal bracket. Mine was loose at that point. I taped it tightly to the bracket and my sound disappeared.
It's either that or your pet parakeet you can't seem to find
Mine has a similar noise. Tapping that cable seems to be the noise I am hearing. I tie wrapped it loosely onto a wiring harness nearby. Hope that fixes mine. Thanks for the info.
Ticking sound under driver's side under steering wheel

I have a 2006 F250 and it does the exact same. Except mine does it randomly, in park with the engine off, driving down the street , stopped at a red light, parked in a parking spot, but I also had a bad transmission range sensor.
