Same team of us grafted a 70 Fleet-wood long bad *** caddy onto a Blazer frame and running gear very cool 4x4 caddy and made us a mint selling it to a pimp in Oakland Calif.
Fred, that statement hit my funny bone. That pimp must have had some Hoes working in remote logging camps to need a 4x4.
Wow a lot of replies. I am pleased. It does sound like there would be some dimension problems though, which is dissapointing. The $2000 V10 is tempting, but I imagine the tranny is another $2000, and then the custom installation will be at least another $4000. I can get a supercharger and intercooler new for around $4000 for the 4.6 and it will only cost me $1000-$1500 for installation. That would be more power for $1500 to $2000 less than the stock V10. And of course, I wouldn't be able to leave the V10 stock either. Sure, it would be even faster in my 150 (and you guys are killing Hemis in 250s), so there's really some potential there. But, I'm just a college kid so the supercharger is cutting it close as it is. I do like the idea of the naturally aspirated V10 though. It just seems like there would be less problems. I would get the same gas mileage as the supercharged V8 too.
In the late 60s early 70s was the beginning of the Mexican low riders in the bay area.
We we were squirreling around down town in the lifted Caddy when this long tall lanky Black feller in the arch typical long leather coat and hat and love beads hollared at us from the front of his pimpmobile. We boggied down the block and he chased us down for ten blocks.
Us poor white trash boys were not too keen for the idea of stopping with him on our *** in that part of town. Finally he gave it up and we ended up back in neutral territory and stopped in to Quick Way for a burger and cokes.
I thought all of us were gonna **** our pants when he came roaring in and slammed the brakes. Brother got out and wanted to know who owned the cool ride.
Hell nobody did it was morphed from several cars and BS plates (not really stolen but certainly not from the caddy). Once we got it clear that he wasn't trying to draft up into white slavery and just wanted the car all was cool and we told him it was sort of real hot.
He laughed and said his brother could fix that tiny problem so how much?...
When we had not clue what to ask, he ripped off $2000 US green and asked if that would do it. Tom Woodfin snatched the bucks and dropped the keys in his hand.
We never saw the other guy in his car until he got out making a show of stuffing the gun in his pants and climbed in the front. (cripes we was just selling a car whats up with the iron already?)
I believe if spinners had existed that Pimp would have wet himself!
We even set plans to use the money to morph some other cool rides but naw...we smoked and drank the entire wad up in less then two weekends (still got part of that hang over)
Many states don't have any emissions testing. Having recently left Michigan I can tell you that there is no inspection for ANYTHING there. As long as you pay your Michigan license plate fees you can drive it on the roads anywhere in the US!
Just because a state doesn't "inspect" vehicles doesn't exempt those vehicles from the Federal emissions laws.
Here in OK, we don't have any kind of inspections either. But, all of the laws regarding vehicle safety & emissions standards are still in place. If you get stopped, the police can do an on-the-spot inspection and issue fines for any infractions of the law.
Newbie on the boards here, to add now im not sure on the 05 model year but for mine (2000) the V10 will sit in the engine bay with no cutting or pounding its engine mounts are farther ahead (balencing point) so it moves it out from the firewall....but efans are required
the big problem is the wiring and makeing it all work and the right way, have been looking into this swap for awhile i myself am just looking for some more answers on the electronics (and i hate electronics LOL)

its a GM product therefor crapola plus putting anything but for in a ford is cheating and lazy (ie 305 in a ranger)
if anything id put a 460/429 under it and go oldschool
yea, it's blasphemous, putting a gmc in a Ford. With the plethora of Ford crate motors around and the ease of swap kits, EFI kits, etc it just doesn't make sense. It's got to be harder to swap in a chebbie motor, although I know speed parts are cheaper and way more plentiful. That 514 Ford is a nice motor and the manufacturers are finally producing FE speed parts for all those 390's sitting around. I do like that 572 cu in, 620 hp GM crate engine but I'd never put anything but a Ford motor in a Ford, it's just wrong.
We put a 289 in a Opal GT
We put a ford Taunus V4 in an Opal Kadet
We put a 289 In a Chevy II (boxy Nova)
When I am at an auto show and some pUKE has a GM motor in a Cherry F100 I just walk by with my nose in the air and lobby as many folks as who will listen to not drop any votes on the sucker!
