Hey guys, I'm new at this site, but I was wondering if anyone has the tranny saver injectors and how they like them. Are the stage 1's a better buy and of so, will my E40D take a poop soon. I've only clocked 56K on my 97. Who's got the best e40d rebuilt? Also, tony wildman chip, beans diesel chip, or jody tipton?
i was going to get the trannsavers but the more i thought about it and talked to other guys that had the ts's and s1's im gonna go with the s1's its just a little more fuel and $50. so i think the s1's are a better buy. as for the auto rebuild...im not an auto guy but i would say john wood tranny or a bts. i belive the chips that bean has are tonys and jodi's burns. i personally run tonys and really like them. lukecline runs tonys chips with some s2 injectors and hes got 420rwhp cant go wrong with the gear bean has. and the fuel mileage and what breaks on your truck after that gear is in is totally up to your right foot.
thanks, did the guys you talked to like the tranny savers or did they wish they went with the stage 1's? Man, I need to meet up with this lukecline guy, he's got one badass truck! Also, is there any postings on converting to the 5 speed of these years from an e40d? thanks again
im here. I have a good friend that went with tranny savers and he loves them. If you dont want alot of extra power, then tranny savers will work great bc a standard luk smfw upgrade will hold the power. Stage 1's are gonna take an upgraded clutch or beefed up auto to hold the power. With stage 1's and chip set to tow setting i made it 70 miles or so on stock tranny . Oh and beans chips come with Tony Wildmans programming, Jody Tiptons programming, or ya can mix and match both guys programming! I personally prefer Tony's programming but both guys do great work.
Thanks Luke, in your honest opinion, is the power difference between ts's and s1's both with a wildman or tipton chip, worth the tranny work? I'm just weighing apples to apples. I'm just really wanting to smoke super duties! Thanks, tom
Thanks for all your suggestions Luke. BTW, is there a list of the mods you have done to your truck, and maybe the horsepower specs? Just curious, what kind of things do you do with your truck, any sled pulling? I'd love to see some pics!
I tow alot with it, i also like to drag race but with fuel cost i had to quit doing that for awhile. im tagged for 24k gross, so sometimes i give the ole girl a workout. Last dyno netted my 420 hp and 855 tq and last trip to the track i turned out a 13.98@ 95.4 mph. heres some pics--- http://photobucket.com/albums/v318/lukecline/
As for mods, its turning into a long list: Fully built tranny with billet converter, tc lockup, autometer lunar gauges, 4" exhaust, afe stage 2, hypermax h2e, bdp 3" intake plenums, bdp stage 2 injectors, 4 position Chip and custom tuning from Tony Wildman, bdp fuel system with dual electric pumps, 6oh intercooler. I think thats all of the performance oriented mods ive done to teh truck.
Hey luke, I saw your pics today and your truck is badass! How hard was it to do the IC install? Is any of that piping stick or did you bend it all? Level of difficuly on a 1-10 scale?
i bought the piping kit from gtsmotorsports.com, this includes everything u need (ic mounts, ic boots, pipes, new y-pipe) to intercool your truck except the intercooler. i would rate this about a 7 probably, it took one full day and part of another to button things up.
