I am trying to put an amp in my truck and it isn't going very well. The head unit has a seperate control for a sub, and hook ups for RCA jacks. I am hooking an 8 inch sub to this amp. I ran a real thick wire to the battery (it has an in-line fuse), grounded the Amp to the floor and ran the RCA cables from the line out to the head unit. There is a plug w/ 4 wires on the amp. Does one of these have to go to the fusebox? As it stands, I have no power to the amp. I am assuming I missed something...
I'm a pretty good mechanic but electrical baffles me, have trouble splicing wires together.

What kind of amp is it.
It sounds like you need to turn it on. There should be a terminal on the amp marked "REM" or "REMOTE" or it might be a blue wire coming out of the amp. You need to connect this with a light guage wire (18awg) to the blue wire on you head unit marked "REMOTE turn on" or sometimes "Power ant."
This should get your amp to turn on.
Do not hook the four wire plug to any voltage, usaully this is for high-level speaker inputs which you will not use if you have RCA's.
It sounds like you need to install the remote (usually orange on what i've done) wire to an source on the ignition that is hot when the key is on. The main power with the inline fuse to the battery supplies the main power, but it needs another power source to kick on the power switch.
