The two carpet trucks I had both came with carpet matts that matched the trucks carpet color. I just opted for a rubber matt, guess I just wanted to spend the money. The factory matts kept the carpet clean. You are right, I think the black floor would look good too. I had grey interior on the 99 F150 and I thought it looked good. I think I have a picture of that somewhere I could email, but it is a 150. Good luck, either way you will make what you get work for your needs. I bought the XL due to $$$ limitations in 2000. I liked them all, Levi
OK, I'll throw my .02 in. If you're going lower end, or plan on driving it until the wheels fall off- buy what you like. If you plan on trading periodically, and you don't live in rural America, stick with the carpets and put high-quality slush mats on top of 'em. My '93 has been out in the Northwest rain and mud for 12 years, and the carpets still look great. 'Course, I don't mind cleaning them when they get dirty either.
My 2001 XL Super Cab has no carpet. Balck rubber floor with insulation underneath. Looks good with my tan interior with black accents and is VERY easy to clean. No worries about mud, grease, etc.
Once u go without carpet youll never want it back... so much easier to clean. sweep it out and then get Tuff Stuff foam cleaner in the car cleaning part of walmart and it looks like new and isnt slippery. No im not a salesman. Just like it.

I got a xl 250 black rubber floor mat an love it. Easy cleaning, looks good shined up, dont stand outside kicking an shuffling shoes to clean bottoms. I still put rubber mats in cause I like that too.
Was I being cheap? No I buy a truck because I like it. Heck, if I hit the lottery for 200 mil and order the top notch, some pinhead will come along an still outdo me.
Get want you want, I like my vinyl-rubber floor and rubber floor mats!
I got the carpet delete on my 02 and love it. Everyone that see`s it and wheels ther rig wishes they had my nice black easy maintenance, insulate rubber floor. I have never used any matts on it and it shows no signs of footwear marks. hope that help out.
the rubber floor in my 87 still looks good, well insulated, and last time i had to clean it out i poured a bunch of water over it and swept it all out.
I would have to agree that carpet delete is a nice option, especially if you are working outside. I was pouring concrete for a summer job in 04 when i first got my SD and let me tell you, i would have RUINED the carpet in 2 weeks! good mats or not. 4 guys with an inch of dirt on their boots works a lot better with vinyl than carpet, but thats just my experience. When you need to clean it you take a damp, hard- brissled brush and wipe it off (after vacuuming of course). You wont regret carpet delete, youll love it if you are outdoorsy
My 2000 XL Trim SD has the black vinyl floor mat...Very easy to keep clean and it wears very well (No Floor mats)...I just use a small brush and Windex to remove the really caked on stuff and it looks new again! After having the mat, I don't think I would do carpet again in a truck...
My Hubby's truck has the carpet delete option and he would not have it any other way. I didnt like the idea when we bought it but i actually like the look of it for him.
Dont let people tell you that they are louder!! I think his truck is better insulated than my last carpet model. Its quieter for sure!
I really appreciate everyone's opinions. After reading what you all had to say, and seeing one in person for myself, I think I've decided to go with the carpet delete.
