I'm in the process of putting together someone else's disassembly, with the motor back in, and putting all the little bits back together again. I have become intrigued by a little hole on the left rear of the block just behind the last core plug. My biggest headache will be all the vacume lines and cables, but since this little hole is something I'll have to figure out eventually, I figured I'd go ahead and ask. Maybe the engine shop forgot a core plug, or this is a hole for a sending unit?
Is it threaded for 1/4" pipe? If it's the one I'm thinking of, you should just be able to put a 1/4" plug in there. I believe it goes into the water jacket, and is just used as a block drain.
Didn't get that great a look at it last night, but I'll take a closer look at it after taking the wife to Wally's world this morning. That will take between 1 to 6 hours, depending on how many side trips the wife "forgot" to mention before we started driving.
