I found a mirror for my 2003 and was going to install it. (drivers side Towing Mirror.)
Someone had replaced the mirror before, and cut the plugs off and soldered everything back together.
I can do the same, because it has worked fine, but I would like to put the plug back on the truck end. The new mirror has the correct flat plug.
I have pretty much figured it out, except they have 2 yellow wires on the truck side soldered to the yellow wire on the mirror.
I can't believe that is correct.
Is the other yellow wire for heat, and go to one of the black mirror wires?
So does anyone know about this or have a wiring diagram of the door plug.
Thanks to all. Jim
Yellow is common to both motors, violet goes to the up-down motor and green goes to the left-right motor. Reversing polarity changes the motor direction.
My guess is that ford used the driver's side plug as a junction point for the common motor wire. That would explain why there are 2 yellow wires on the door side of the connector.
