I am wanting to install Cruise control on a 1997 F-350 Powerstroke. So far I have discovered that all the necessary wireing is there less the steering wheel. I know I need a different master cylinder, steering wheel insert and PCM. The truck is a federal (49 state) emmission truck with a 5 speed manual transmission. From what I have been able to find out so far is there is only 2 part numbers associated with the ECM, F7TF-12A650-SA And F7TF-12A650-SB, Can anyone tell me which one of these is cruise enabled or which part number in need to look for to get a PCM that is enabled?
If anyone can help me with this, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks
Its great to hear that others have succeded at this already. Thats kind of what i expected i needed to do since I have studdied the wiring diagrams for hours and already figured out the jumper trick. Thanks
so all that has to be done is getting the new horn pad, plugging in the harness and jumping a couple wires? no need for a new master cylender or anything? or am i wrong...would i need a new PCM as well....
I just Got mine it work, you dont need a new computer, Or a new master cylinder just the horn pad or... If your good with electronics and such you can do the way i did and spend $25 at radio shack for a few switches, resistors and wireing to make your own switch unit, foregoing the hasel of finding a different horn pad. As for the master cylinder, just jump the connector as described in previous post untill you have to replace the mastercylinder due to ware..
I dont see how it even affects the master cylinder, all the pressure switch is for, that we are missing being we dont have the master cylinder for cruise, is a redundant switch to cancel the cruise if your brake on/off switch fails to cancel cruise when you apply the brakes.
PS, whats the 5.6k mod and where cani read about it?
