old fuel
i recently inherited a 83 blazer, diesel (i know, chevy) anyway im trying to clean it up and sell it (dont want a chevy sitting in front of my house). the problem is its been sitting for 5 years and the previous owner left a full tank of diesel in it. so... when i drop the tank, what do i do with 20 gallons of diesel? a friend told me that using two bottles of diesel conditioner would make it useable, but i dont like the sound of that. any tips or advice would be great. thanks alot
When storing a vehical, they did you a favor, because the full tank cannot rust, because theres no way for the water in the air to condence, because there is NO air in it...
My 76 benz sat for 7 years after my father passed away (may he rest in peace)... new batt, new oil... started up first try, with no ill effects from the 7+year old diesul...
So Id run it, mabey ad a can or two of SEAFOAM to it (great stuff... really cleans it out)
Before selling our 97 van that sat for 2 years, 2 years ago (sat from 01-03)... had half a tank of gas in it... filled it up and drove it for a while... ran like $#!^ for a tank, and then ran progressively better... Gas degrades, Diesul doesnt
~Nate (o, before u sell, do a full chassis lube for $30)
*EDIT*also, what makes you want to drop the tank?*EDIT*
Dump the fuel, making sure you get all water out, fill it with fresh, and add a good biocide. You'll still probably end up changing filters a couple times, but it won't be nearly as bad.
