When i turn off my truck, i can hear a metallic rattle on it. This happens with the gentle 'whirring' as the turbo spins down. I assume the rattle is just a function of the beast, but wasnt sure.
My 2005 F250 PSD also has a small noisy sound when the turbo spins down. The spin down I can hear either inside or outside the truck. The spin down normally lasts for about 5 seconds. Can other FTE members confirm that they hear the same and that it is normal? Thanks!
From what i can tell, the spin down and rattle are normal. The rattle is apparantly the nature of VGT, and the whooshy sound is just the turbo spinning down, since it spins all the time from teh exhaust.
I have tried to let the engine cool down to 400f before shutting her off, but it does't seem to make a differents in how long you hear that turbo wine down. About 5 sec is the same as mine. Ô¿Ô
My '06 does the same thing when I shut it off. This morning when I got home I shut off the truck from the passenger side and listened at the exhaust pipe. Sort of like a gentle clicking noise. I can hear it in the cab when I shut it off, too. I just hope it's normal.
