I jjust got done insataliing my new 3" DP from DPP Should have asked about wich end of the old one to cut off first but any way . it looed like if I cut the bottom oof I cold slid it out the top. no luck
Well I had to bend the heck out of the pinch weld to get the new one in. but it is still touching the firewall. I think that is what is making my truck loiuder in the cab but I am mainly worried about fire danger from that 1000 deg exhaust runner that close to the floor boards.
Do I need to take the dp off and make more room so it dose not touch??
Tanks for the help J
PS it seem like I'm seekinf a big dropin EGT's!! or its the cold weather but I like the thought of it being the DP!
Yep you need to make more room for the pipe, also make sure the pipe is angled correctly if you set it up wrong it'll make clearance a big ole PITA! The EGT drop you're seeing is the down pipe trust me on that one seenit maaannnyyy times before !
Thanks mark. I'll need to look at it some more If I have to bend the pinch weld some more it'll be tough. any tricks ??
P.s mark how much clearance do I need min.? 1/4"??

just gotta beat on it some more. can you see where its touching right now? you might be able to stop it from touching by roating it downward a little bit. just gotta kinda play with it. the insulation thats on the bottom of the truck is foil backed mineral wool that wont burn. but just the cab noise from it touching gets kinda irritating
not gonna get far with that little roundin' hammer the 8lb sledge works great. if you know someone with a portapower of a place to rent one that is the ticket thats how i got that 4" in my truck
was hittin the end of a 2" sch 40 pipe with a cap on it. if i had to do it on another truck to get the 4" in i would pull the carpet out and cut the section of pan out reshape it and weld it back in. the floor board on that side is kinda oddly shaped and i cracked it but i have a ceramic blanket on the underside and the dp is ceramic coated.
We used a 16' 2"x4" against the VC to bend the pinch weld and the firewall, eventually we broke the 2x4, but nothing touches, and the VC isn't bent. had to take hood off though.
