94 bronco 5.8 auto.....found out i needed a new radiator- found a hole in the top center- only had this truck for a few weeks now first owner must of used some stop leak in the cooling system as the coolent was brown in color figured it just needed a flush....in removeing the radiator found the overflow hose was stoped up with stuff--cross between peanut butter and poo-poo--was able to clean out the hose...ran plenty of fresh water through system till the water was flowing clean...system seems to be ok now but found a hose that runs from top of rad just under overflow hose along the top of rad to the top of the throttle body...it seems to exit on the bottom of throttle body then connects into cooling system by the thermistat housing...were it connects to the rad is all cloged up with this poo-poo gunk to so im gonna try to clean the hose and pipe up to..any one know what this hose is for ( cool down the throttle body??) with it all cloged up can it damage something...now im thinking how many other coolant hoses or passage ways could be cloged up with this stuff. sorry for the long post...thanks
hello...anyone know what this coolant connection does for the throttle body...is it needed...my f150 5.0 dident have it...thanks again
It is to heat up the throttle body so that it does not ice up and freeze the throttle in the winter. If you live in the Deep South you may not need it. I have also heard of people in the northern states taking it off with no problems.
