I bought a used 2003 explorer, after going through much trouble to find the code needed for the keypad entry I found that when I enter the code, it unlocks the doors, waits for about a second or too, and then sets off the alarm whether I open a door or not, any ideas?
I'd be interested to hear if you ever resolved this issue. I too have a '03 Expy and I need to retrieve the door codes. Did you take your to the dealer to get them retrieved? Dealer in Indianapolis said it's about $40.
dmdillon,
If it's like a Mountaineer, there is a little compartment in the rear on driver side that has the jack stored in it. Open that up a look inside it toward the front of the vehicle and you will see the controller box and it should have the keypad override code printed on it. With that code, just follow the instructions in you owner manual to setup your very own new code (I think).
Thanks for your reply. I found another thread elsewhere in this forum that has excellent details and photos for retrieving the factory codes on the '03 Expy. They're actually located on the passenger side near the wheel well. Many thanks to AlbanyHDTV for his post!
