are these codes important???

I pulled codes, and I think I got...

44 Thermactor Air Injection system inoperative (Right side).

and

52 Power steering pressure switch always open or closed

I dont know how to troubleshoot either of these problems... Or what they really mean.... I know that the Thermactor pump is your smog pump... but IM not sure what could cause it to fault out... I replaced the EGR and the codes still there...

I dont know much about the power steering... its seems like a fairly simple system... and I have no idea where the "Switch" would be. and I have a feeling its some type of electrical circuit and not a real switch...

Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a hose or vacuum line to the TAB and TAD solenoids (those do-hickys next to the coil on a V-8), air pump, etc etc...start with the simple stuff...

That is important because it supplies oxygen to your cats in the exhaust, and w/o that oxygen those cats will fail.

Did you turn the wheel a half or full turn when you did the test? Thats probably why you got a code 52.

On my truck, that vacuum line goes to a valve located just at the outlet of the smog pump. Basically directly below where you are holding the line in the picture. There should be a nipple on top of the valve for the vacuum line.
