ok I was dragging some trees today with my truck and it started to miss really bad I can barely keep it running. Its got a 360 I pulled all of the plugs none look fouled and I checked the point gap. the point plugs wires and condenser are all less than two months old, I tried everthing today except for changing the coil which I am going to do tomarrow if you guys have any ideas please tell me. thanks
Do ya have a fuel filter before the carb, good airfilter and what's the carb condition like last rebuild? A 2 or 4 barrel? Get some Berrymann's B 12 spray carb cleaner, pull bowl/bowls off, idle jets, main jets and power valve. Spray the 8 air passages on the top by the air horn if 4 barrel or 4 on 2 barrel as well all passage ways. Air blast dry and assemble. Tune and test as this is the easy and cheap fix first should you have crap in the carb passages, jet or air bleeds. Plugs tell ya dizzy, wires and plugs aren't at fault. Dress points again and retime, cap inside good (no carbon tracking), coil having a thermal breakdown? Fuel pressure 4-6 pounds?

The first thing that I changed was the fuel filter because that has always been a problem with my truck in fact I always cary a spare. I also cleaned the carb and checked for vacume leaks. This morining I am going to change the coil and put the timing light on it, I am afraid it jumped time I was reving it pretty high when this hapened.
Oops you weren't supposed to tell us that, have seen old lifters after a high rev stay stuck in the pumped up position. Do a compression check or pull leads one at a time to locate offending cylinder.

I never thought of that if the lifters stick will they unstick. because this happened before and the next day it ran fine. Now this moring I put a new coil in it and it runs good but I didnt try running it first I just changed the coil I wounder if thats whats been going on. Thanks for the info
