It details removing the turbo from the truck, but you don't have to. It has some very useful pictures and tips for all that have never done this before.

Thanks Kwik, Unfortunately I am an involuntary subscriber to Murphy's law and my luck just plain sux.

I did not want to take the chance bending or cracking any vanes or damaging thre shaft while doing it "on the truck". Taking the turbo off the truck has it's diffciulties as well with up pipe and down pipe alignment, potential of "O" ring leaks, etc. Although, you do learn a lot in the disassembly and re-assembly process.

If I just wanted to eliminate the surge and didn't mine spending the money, I'd go with the ATS compressor housing only and forget the Wicked Wheel. I have both.

I also took the turbo off the truck. You take one big chance of damaging the turbo with it on the truck. It is not hard to remove. I also replaced the pedestal o-rings, cleaned the boots and IC tubes and did the CCV mod at the same time. A good cheater bar will help in the alignment dept. The down-pipe clamp on the turbo was a moefoe. It took awhile to get it to line up. I did mine with no help. With doing the CCV mod and all the cleaning of the boots, IC tubes and turbo, it took 8 hours. Of coarse that was lunch, beer, break, beer, chatting with neighbor, beer.

Ok guys sorry for the late reply I got it fixed that night and was too excited to post WOW! never would have though it would change the truck so dramatically

I fixed the leak by loosening the 2 lower flanges of the Y pipe with everything loose it fell together the throttle response and the way it holds boost no flutter at all is amazing I highly recommend this mod to anyone

Though I did race a Chevy SS and I am unhappy with the results what next?

Step 1. Gauges

Step 2. Intake, i.e.; Tymar, Kwik 6637, others....

Step 3. 4" or bigger Turbo-back exhaust system

Step 4. Sonnax valve/Tricum spring tranny kit

Step 5. Chip or programmer of your choosing...(DP Tuner Jody Tipton for a chip, I use a Diablo Predator as my Programmer... 100hp setting should suffice....)

Step 6. At this point, you should be able to dust almost any road going vehicle in stock trim, emphasis on MOST, as well as you're own tranny.
