October meeting
I was thinking of haold an October meeting. more more like an event. It would probably be getting cooler so out door wrench turning, but may be a bon fire. at nigh of course. more of a get together just to meet people.

I would have to clear it with the wife, but i was thinking at our place outside of DeWitt (Eastern Iowa). Our farm, great place to have a bon fire on not good for camping. Not far from Davenport. Another idea would be Scott County Park poeple can camp, but not sure of a bon fire. If people don't like to camp hotels are near by in Davenport.
I can check on SCP if people want to camp.
A date: not the first weekend in Oct. We will be out of town (Green Bay).
JUst some ideas.

well I like the sounds of an Oct GTG, but first and third weekends are out as I have races both of those weekends but that doesn't have to stp everyone else if one of those weekends works better for everyone else.

I'm open for time, at this time, if it works, let's call for 2nd weekend then. I would say your farm is fine, if you didn't have something I might have gone with my parents place at Marengo, but we haven't had a truly eastern meeting yet, so sounds like something to go for.

WEll, consider that it could be Des Moines, or south from there, pretty close... Marengo even is a ways away from you.
While I'm thinking about it, there should be another swap meet at Hawkeye downs in Cedar Rapids on the 3rd weekend of October I believe. I don't know just yet if I am going to it yet or not, will have to decide that closer to time, courtesy of the fuel prices...

15-16 — 27th Annual AACA Cedar Rapids Region Swap Meet - Hawkeye Downs Fairgrounds, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM, Sunday 6 AM - 3 PM. For info call 319-846-3499.

October being what it is, it would need to be either a bonfire type thing or have the ability to be indoors somewhere. I don't know if many would be camping or not. We can even just get together at a restaurant or something like that, it can be anything. Depends on what all everyone would want to do, just hang out and BS, or do something or whatever.

Resturant sounds good. Quad Cities or IC/CR area. My October is filling up. I only have the 29th open. All other are filled in with other must attend functions.
I would perfer the Quad Cities. I would like to sugest Old Chicago. Good Food and plenty of beer (world beer tour, 110 beers from aound the world on hand).
If we could get a possible head count hotel rooms might be an option for long way travers. I think a min of 10 rooms to get a discount. I can check on that. If this sounds o.k. I will lokk into it.

Days Inn in Davenport reg 54.99 + five per person extra.
If around 10 rooms 45.00 + 5 per person extra.
If we can get 15 rooms 35.00 + 5 per person extra.
Plus tax on each.
