Need some advice. Somebody cut the power cable off my 3 horse LQ trailer. Cut it clean just under the gooseneck right before what looks like a junction box. How hard is it to get a new cable and hook it up? Is it something I can do? Thanks in advance.
Follow-up on my original post. I finally got the parts-wire and plug(7 prong). Wired the plug according to info from this site and the web. Rewired the junction box. Left the wires from the cut cable plug attached to the junction wires. Rewired them one at a time with the wires from the new cable plug. Made sure that I replaced each wire with the same color that was originally attached. Nothing!!! No power! I wouldn't mind if the lights were backward- I could move the wires around. But I get nothing- no power. Obviously, the 12v power wire is not connected right. And probably the rest of them. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks in advance.
Make absolutely certain that you have a good ground, it will mess with your head all day! When wiring up an old trailer a few month ago, I took jumper cables and hoohed them to my truck for a ground and to the trailer frame, to test it, and the lights worked just fine, but untill I reworked the ground for the trailer, and then for my truck as well, I had problems keeping the lights working.

Definately check your fuses and the ground, the brake and running lights should run off of a different circuit than the trailer battery charge. I don't know what year your truck is. Also, HERE is a good reference for wiring your plug.
