Hi all, I have a 73 F10o w/ 360. In my attempt at cleaning out all the junk wire under the dash I managed to kill my fuel gage. I don't have a shop manual for the beast yet, and I need to know the color (supposed color that is) of the fuel sender wire. It is too dirty underneath to tell at the tank or on the frame rail. Try as I might under the dash, I can't find a loose wire or a cut wire near the gauge....
Uh oh... thats not what I needed to hear... All the other gauges still work fine. Get this, the fuel gauge worked on my way back home today (didn't work on the way into town) and then as soon as I got home, shut off the truck, I fired it back up out of curiosity, and the gauge wouldn't read. I did make sure the connection on the tank was good, tight and clean, but the gauge still reads intermittent. Looks like I need to hit NAPA soon for a manual...
There are plenty of fuel gauge related posts on this & the electrical forums.
Shop Manual?
The store here wich provides invaluable information has some ford licensed manuals on disc for a reasonable price.

I would suggest your problem is the fuel sending unit in the tank.

that could very well be, the gauge was working fine, and I just had the tank out while I was fiberglassing it, and I was working on the wiring at the same time, so I figured I had torn something loose up there. The sender *looked* new, but you never know. Worse comes to worse, I can pop another one in there and give it a shot.
