Anyone know how turn a cd i put into my disc drive into mp3 on my hard drive?
I have advd burner and a regular drive cd burner. I cant figure out how to just directly take the songs or the songs i want from the cd and make into mp3 with the rest of my mp3s on the hard drive?
Or do I need special program for this?
thanks
Ya, you could use Audiograbber too. It's free too. Though you might want to consider using Windows Media Audio. It is also free and compresses the cd format into WMA format which takes up half as much space as MP3s and has better sound quality. But if you plan to burn them onto a CD-R you will need to make sure your device can play mp3s and WMA files. I am able to fit 14+ cds, in WMA format, on one CD-R for use in my pioneed in dash cd/mp3/WMA player.

Is Windows Media Player able to burn MP3's? Or do I need to download software to do it? I have been wanting to put my CD's on one CD-R as MP3's for a year now, but dont know how...
Yup I got windows media player. I like it too. I usually rip the cd's on the drive but i like to use winamp, and when i open the files in the winamp playlist it doesnt play them.
Anywho thanks for all the suggestions, Ill check some of them out.
I have used a program called CDEX but it is cumbersome and slow to enter all of the track information.
CDex is a great program! You do know that you do not need to enter ANY track information, right Eric?? There is a setting you click for 'remote CDDB' (compact disc database), and it checks that site, and downloads all of the proper track information. Its an awesome program.

I too use CDEX and LOVE it (free )! I wasn't aware of the option for it to get the track info... I've been typing them in by hand. I'll have to check into that... it's a pain renaming all the tracks.
