Thumbs up newbie

Hello everyone, I have been reading this forum for months and have learned alot about my PSD and have put some of it to good use. i finally desided to register because i know it is just a matter of time before i will need your help with some problem. no serious problems yet on my 2000 but would like to have a good source to go to when it happens. i have read enough to know that they are some very knowledgeable people here and have enjoyed your discussions. thanks

Thumbs up first question.

hello all. iam just another old time native houstonian. I hope you do not hold that against me. thanks for your replies yesterday.

I am under the impression that i will loose some low end torque going to a full 4 in exaust,dp back. since i do pull a 5th ,9000lbs . Is this something i might regret. i do have guages, big napa filter, Hypertec programmer, 50 hp for pulling withand i am just concerned with what the end results might be. thanks again for all Ya.ll's help.

What I lost on the low end, I gained and then some in mid and upper range power. I tow every day a lot on the highway and I'm very pleased with the result. I do get the dreaded turbo surge/stall on a big hill loaded up around 65-70 mph. I've been lucky enough not to get a ticket for going faster than I really should to avoid the surge. I ordered a wicked wheel that was sent out on Tuesday, so with any luck, that will be solved on Sunday.
The lower EGT's are worth the trade off for me, but my buddy went with a 3 1/2" to 4". While he is quicker out of the hole, I take him around 50mph and I have 100*-150* lower exhaust temps. I'm looking for longevity and reliability.

just my $.02,

Austin

No sweat. Don't get me wrong. The 4" turbo back I installed is a big overall improvement. I initially just cut out the muffler and welded a pipe in its place.
The unique sound and quickness it had when empty are the only things I miss. One of my neighbors said it sounded like a Huey Cobra as I drove up the street. I personally would only look at stainless steel systems since thats what you'll be taking off. But then again that's just me.
Whatever you choose, don't skimp, because you don't want to wish you had done something else. Mods are fun and your truck deserves the best.

Austin

Right on! With the modifications you've done already, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. Especially on the highway from 65-90+. Of course that's what I here, because I'd never exceed the speed limit. You'll also see an improvement in your mpg.

Have fun,

Austin
