yea, it fits. the only problem ive run into with mine is the exhaust. my universal likes to hit the crossover pipe when its compressed. i plan on solving this by getting a set of hedders though
Yes, I have a 1975 high boy and I bolted as one compete piece (the front bolt on front leaf springs, the two rubber brake lines with brake bracket, rear leaf spring shackles, and removed the shock absorber) from a 1978 F250 to the 1975 F250. I had to drop the exhaust pipe to remove the shackle bolts. Remove the front bumper. The axle came out as one piece with leaf springs, axle, brake lines, tie rods, and brake lines. I left the tires on and rolled in the 1978 axle unit and leaf springs into the 1975. Raise the truck up high to remove and install the axle unit.

I have the same problem, but I don't think I have a D60.
I think the original 75 front leaf springs will provided more height that the original springs from a 77.5-79. (They have a bit of a positive arch while 77.5 and up springs are flat and have negative arch with the weight of the truck)
And yes, it will bolt right in no problem. I think the position of the shocks are a little different however. I did the same swap but i completely ground off the shock and swaybar brackets so I cant confirm this.
The shackles on the 78 F250 were a bit longer. My truck is still has manual steering and in the future I am planning on using the steerng gear box with linkage off the 78 F250.
I am considering this same swap, however I was wondering if it matters if you have a high pinion or a low pinion? I have a 76 f250 and a high pinion front, can I put in A 78 low pinion front?
I also agree that I would use the original 76 front leafs. I think they sit a bit higher..??
I have installed a 79 high pinion(7F, reverse cut, whatever) into a 74 highboy and all I had to do was use the draglink from the 74.
Jeremy: high pinion Dana fronts didn't come out until 77.5 in the 250/350s yours may be updated already. I did see afew Dana60 fronts with lowpinion and disc brakes on acouple 76 crewcabs, but I'm not sure if that was the only application.
Parts swaps are fun, my 70 crewcab 4x4 will have a 5.9 cummins/ZF5spd/matedNP205/79Dana 60 Front/79Dana70 Cab+chassis rear.
