this is a new feature...I think its the way its designed...not a problem just verifying...
anyhow
when i turn on my cruise control and set a speed and let off the throttle, the cruise seems to let the speed slip 2-4mph and then pick it back up instead of holding it where i wanted it initially...it will climb back up to the setting I desire, I have also noticed that it is slow to add fuel when climbing a hill seems to allow the truck to drop a few mph before it realizes it needs to accel.
on my 98,99 and 04 this was not a characteristic of the cruise...has anyone noticed this on the 06 or maybe even 05...mine is an 06 thanks.
I have the same issue on my truck. My 94 Bronco was much more responsive when setting and then maintaining cruise speed. Maybe it's the electronic throttle?
That issue and turbo lag off idle are my only complaints.
Funny how you get used to what you are now driving.
Seems to me that it may be a Ford cruise characteristic. I think...my '97, 2000, and '02 F-150 4x4's did the same thing. But, it is hard to remember.
I believe the older cruise designs were electro-mechanical in nature and went directly from point to point so to speak. Maybe these electronic gizmo's have to seek out the level you want.
Regardless, it probably makes for a smoother speed transition than the old ways.
My cruise control on my '05 sucks to put it mildly. I went on vacation last week, 250 miles north and the cruise worked OK. Lost a few MPH before "resuming" and going up hills. On the way back, I was losing 3-4 MPH after hitting "Resume" and then it would go over the set MPH by 4-5 then drop back down. On hills I would lose 2-5 MPH. Last 100 miles I shut it off because I was sick of passing someone and then being passed 30 seconds later.
I have read numerous posts by others at dieselstop that are having the same problems. (Sorry if it isn't OK to mention that site here)
I am guessing that this will be Ford's next recall, seeing they can't build decent cruise control switches. See the recall thread.
My '00 never varied speed pulling the same trailer other than when I was pulling through TN and KY earlier this year. Going up small hills or down hills, the speed never varied 99% of the time. I had better speed control with the 4R100 than the TS going down hills.
