On my 05 f-350 i have the dual alternator set-up and looking at the passenger side tube it looks quite restrictive. does anybody make one that doesnt do that or is there a possibility of just removing the second alternator since i dont have a high load on my truck or would the single put out less amperage? Any options Id appreciate it.
Hmm... I have a feeling it is quite literally 2 alternators, each of the same capacity as the single small duty alternator.
The main problem would be the FEAD (Front End Accesory Drive) belt being too long. If you got one of those off a truck that only had a single alternator that should fix that.
It appears that the pipe would make a restriction - but relative to the restriction of the intercooler it would be minimal.
Anyone esle got an opinion?
i have an 06 with the dual alternators and mine has a small crimp but its more ovald than mashed in like yours, or at least thats how it looks based on your pics, go to the dealership and look at an 06, if it is different, maybe you can get that tube?
By my catalog here at work, for the 03 and early 04 models, the part # on the tube is 5C3Z-6C646-CA. From Jul. 04 to current model 06, the part # is 5C3Z-6C646-EA. I will try to order both and compare them side by side to see what the difference is. I will post later with the results. Thanks
When I tried to order the older part #, it updates to the newer number. The only thing that I can come up with is from the factory on the earlier models, it was a different pipe, but as for a replacement part, all years will now use the same one.
