1995 Ranger with 2.3 and 5speed manual. Pulled up to garage and shut it off this morning and when I came back it would not start. When I hit the key the buzer goes from very lound to faint sound, and the starter does not turn. I also get no click from the salonoid. Battery is full charge and good.

I tried to jump the salenoid but still nothing. I then noticed the battery post was getting very hot and I had to disconnect it. Any thoughts??

I had a similar situation w/ an older Ford Tempo that I owned. When all was said and done, it actually turned out to be the battery, even though it appeared to be putting out the proper voltage when hooked up to my meter. Although, the part of the terminal being hot would lead me to believe that something may be shorting out a connection somewhere. Was it the (+) or (-) terminal which seemed to be getting warm?

The hot post is caused by a high resistance in that area, it sounds like the connector is bad, dirty, or where it molded to the cable.. or the battery post is loose inside the battery.
