I was wondering why when the battery gets low the truck will not start? It sound like the engine is turning over fast enough but the engine just will not fire, after changing battery work fine, reinstalled some older battery from another truck of which start fine , it will not start this truck, Is there a way to reset pcm after battery install.
In order to "reset" the PCM i believe holding the battery cables together for a timeperiod will do it, but I would almost venture to say you have other issues?
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) MUST have a minimum of 10.5 volts applied to it to "fire" the Injector Driver Module (IDM), and thus trigger the fuel injectors.
The starter motor, combined with the current draw to the Glow Plugs, can drag marginal batteries to below this threshold voltage, and thus a "no-start".
"Sounding like" the engine is turning over fast enough is not a good indicator at all.
Good batteries are of primary importance to Powerstroke engines.
