You should get a notice in the mail from Ford. When you get this call the local dealer to set an appt. to go in and get it fixed. The appt. thing is really used for dealers that will get a lot of people, if yours is small you can probably just go in, but I would still call to make sure they have the parts.

If you registered it with the county / State (license plate/inspection/tags), then they have you on record.

Does anyone know where the thread is that listed ALL the vehicles that have this poorly designed cruise control switch. I seem to remember that my 2003 Expedition may or may not have the switch but I don't know how to determine if it does so I can complain to Ford that it needs to be covered in the recall also.
Thanks

Didn't they replace the entire switch when they did the recalls on the 2000 models? Looking at mine, that had the recall done, it appears I have a new switch.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/09/07/...all/index.html

What I'm wondering is if have the fuse in there that this new recall is doing might be safer.

I bet this is just a continuation of your recall.

I happened to have my Exp at the dealer yesterday for an unrelated problem and they fixed the brake fluid/cruise control recall (which is I hadn't heard about until today) and the switch recall (which I was aware of). They're both separate recalls issues.

The old recall was just a bad switch that could malfunction and catch fire from overheating (if I recall correctly).

The latest issue is where the brake fluid can drip on the cruise control mechanizm and cause a fire. I didn't look to see what they replaced.

They are both the same recall. The CC switch on the master cylinder can leak brake fluid, thus causing a fire.

Did you buy the "fixed" switch from Ford? If so you can get your money back.
