there are 2 things to concider .if you have a problem with confined spaces, and your physical body size. if you are big, or a wimp in tight spaces, opt for an open mri. the one i had done last year was on my shoulders for the torn rotator cuffs. i forgot that i bulked up since the last one 20 years ago when i broke my neck. i got sorta stuck in the machine. the girls were laughing when they pulled me out, and one said i thought this was gonna happen, but we lost our tape ruler. i have 26 inch shoulders, 36 inch waist, and weigh in at 250-260, depending on the weather.and need to wear a 3XL shirt. lucky for me there was an open MRI in the trailer outside.

 

I also have a big chest and when they slid me into the tube with my arms crossed over my chest I could hardly breath! They pulled me out and had me put my arms next to my sides. I think the new tubes are larger. Scott.

 

Just got done with the MRI, wow this was something different. It took 20 minutes, 73 images and they gave me a CD with all the images. Ya know your in trouble when they hand out earplugs as the machine will buzz, hum, pulse and growl, "beam me up Scotty" I had a small metal splinter in my little finger that I didn't know about, the machine made the splinter feel hot. All said and done all I do now is rock back and forth with drool coming from the mouth, eyes crossed and mumbling the word chebbie over and over. "I'm ok the worlds wrong"
