Hey Fatfenders, good to see you back. I'm still here, but had to take a 7 day break from the computer. I just got back from Hawaii for 7 days. Great time. I finally got my 17" wheels and tires. I love em. I'm starting to put the stainless bolts I bought from you in the bed. I've been polishing them up and getting the wood and stainless strips ready. Missed you in here! Welcome back buddy.
Hey Fenders, good to hear your still around. I sorta dropped out of sight a bit this last year with grad school and all, and the poor F-3 extended cab has seen little attention until recently.
I have just aquired a complete front end off a 51 F-4 from bobj49f2 who lives just around the lake (Michigan) from me. The same trip also got me a solid front bumper and an original aftermarket grill guard.
I have once again changed my mind and have opted to go back to using my original frame for this project. I realized how much of the originality I was going to be losing by using the 79 frame. My hope is that sometime before the new year I can get the frame stretched the 20 inches I need, as well as getting the frame cleaned up and ready for paint and maybe a newer rear axle (DANA 60)
On a personal note, I've recently become engaged and will be getting married next summer. (and don't worry, she approves of my hobby =)
Take care of yourself, and keep in touch when you can
FF56,YES, i can use it on another project. I will pay shipping, thanks. PS: I just got back from vacation and I saw a 56 with a smoothed dash with a long digital strip Dakota digital insert and man did it look great. I did not have my camera at the time but the lines from the right side were taken across to the left. Real clean looking.
Hey Dewayne, It's good to hear you're typing. I won't get all slobbery, and I believe that everybody has covered everything going on except for two major events: 1) Barry is now righting a column for a truck mag!! 2) In honor of your painting efforts; a month ago I painted flames on my truck! Then, three days later decided to paint over them!! Check out my avatar, the truck looks as good as new. Keep in touch, Jag
Just thought I'd chime in too. I've just gotten Joey home as I finally got a spot for him cleaned out in my garage. Over the last 3 days I've pulled the engine, tranny and all the front sheet metal. Up next will be some cleaning and fabricating new motor and tranny mounts for the new engine (as well as assembly of the engine =)
