I would like to go with 49" irok's on a 75 short bed f100. But if it's going to be too much trouble i'll stick with 39" boggers. the biggest suspension lift i've found is 9". Would that plus a 3" body clear the 49's. If I do decide just to stick with the 39" boggers would a 10" or 12" wide wheel be better. I think the tires are 18" wide. Thanks
For a 49" IROK to fit that truck you'll need a minimum of 20" lift. They don't sell a 20" lift for these trucks, you have to build it or take it to a shop that can custom build it for you. Besides just the amount you'd have to lift to clear those tires you need to consider axles. Your stock axles on that truck will not hold up to 49" tires. Besides just the shafts, which is the regular axle issue people have with big tires, your front axle tube is comparatively thin and would bend quite easily with a good bump when you've got over 200 pounds spinning per corner. To be honest 39" boggers is still really pushing it with the stock axles. They would fair fine o the street but if you plan to offroad the truck at all you can expect to see some damage.
12" wide rim is what Interco recommends for the 39" bogger. You could still run a 10" wide rim just fine with those, but be sure they're not over inflated because you'll round the crown and cause uneven tread wear.
I'd put a 9" lift and get some bushwacker cut out fender flairs, only because I don't like body lifts, but a 2-3" body lift with 9" suspension lift would clear those 39s with out any rubbing.
I'm running 38.5s on my 77 and I'm only running a four inch lift with ten inch wide wheels. I dont have and clearance problems at all. I just cant afford the gas to drive it.
I've never seen anyone put anything bigger than 36" tire(and they had finder rub) on a 4" lift on a F=100 or F-150.
I've also never heard of 38.5x10 tires either.
I had 39" Bajas on a 73 Chev and only had 9 inches of total lift. 6" susp 3" body. I wasn't sure if the 39's would work with the 9" susp lift on a ford.
A 6" lift should clear 37s and a 9" lift should fit 40s, but if you go any bigger you'd have to have a custom suspension, cutt out fender flairs, or body lift.
