Fuel filter change

I use a 30" length of old garden hose to slide over the drain tube and drop the other end into a gallon jug.
I have changed mine many times but last night I forgot to close the drain valve after installing the new filter.
I started the truck up after the install and smelled fuel like crazy and shut down immediately when I realized what I did.
My stone driveway now smells like the pump island at Flying J.

I ran a piece of fuel line from the drain (passenger side of block, visible from passenger wheel well) down to near the front of the truck. Now when I drain it, I can put a catch pan on the ground a reliably predict where the fuel will go.
