trans oil

Hi I have a 1997 f 150 with a manual trans. I want to change the oil. Can anyone tell me the type of oil and the amount? Thanks

It uses Mercon ATF.

Mercon is the base line for all FORD transmissions. All the manual and older automatics use this. Newer automatics use the Mercon V. Just buy a good brand that says MERCON on the fron. Many of these also meet the DEXTRON III spec, and might also be listed on the jug.
