hey guys...my truck had this horrible engine squeek..dad told me it was the belt tensior
well yesterday it stop doing it.
but now the engine is like over revving
its like the motor is spinning up but the transmission isnt...i think its the tranny..
lemme give you can example it usually shifts about 4500rpms well now its shifting at 5500-6000 rpms
does the torque converter need to be changed...if im calling it the wrong thing...its the thing betwee the engine itself and auto tranny
have you checked the fluid level of the tranny. Should be checked with the engine running and in park. should be a cold and hot level. also how many miles on the tranny fluid and does it smell burnt or appear very dark. I would start with the basics and make sure you have good clean and right amount of fluid in it. also if the fluid has been changed make sure it has the right fluid in it. never heard of a converter simply going bad unless it cracks or expodes usually happens with race cars, not the daily driver. If all of the above checks out good you may have a cluch pack on its way out, hope this helps some.

its the orignal torque converter. we drove the tranny cracked for about 3 years without knowing besided the oil leak.
hasnt been changed since last feb...feb 2004
all the gears are good since it was pulled apart..tranny fluid is level...(right amount)
if its somethign with the computer...would the reader pick it up?
I don't know about it being a PCM issue. You could check the codes, if there was (is) a fault, it might be stored in the PCM. If the transmission is slipping the way I think it is from your description, you may have gear ratio codes (gear 3 wrong ratio, etc.) When I get those codes, I'm almost always pulling a trans to open it up. Not always, but most of the time... Good Luck.
its like the shift points have been changed...and it seems way underpowered..
it revs way up past from where it supposed to shift..like its in neutral but its in drive.
Usually you can floor it and it will jerk your head back when it shifts to second..but its like its over reaving so far that its int he upper rpms of second when it does shift.
