Setting A Shower Pan

I am going to install a brand new acrylic / plastic pre-formed shower pan on a Denshield surface over a traditional 3/4" plywood sub floor. The Denshield is simply a 1/4" layer of tile backer board that was installed already to facilitate the tile floor. I want to trough down a layer of thin-set mortar and set the pan down on it to give it a stable, well supported base. Has anyone done this before? I'm curious as to how thick the mortar bed should be, how deep the notches in the trough??? Also, any tips for applying even pressure afterward to seat the pan firmly without bending or deforming it??? Any advice on this install would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jeff

Not sure if I did it right, but haven't had any problems. Plugged the shower drain and filled the bottom with water. Used a couple of cans of the spray foam insulation. Remember you have to start on the far side and work back towards yourself. Also have a large paper bag handy for the spent, leaking can of foam. I wrapped the drain connection in SyranWrap first. Fiberglass shower pan is warmer than tubs set in mortar and one of the mortared tubs dish panned. Have you seen the showers with the extra deep pans and recirculating water falls in them? Me want!!!!
