vin number
I have a 1978 f150 4x4 swb. Where can I find the vin number for my truck. I would like to find out what motor, tranny , front and rear axles it came with from the factory. I have been told it was special ordered.

The VIN in itself won't tell you much. You can find information on the data plate re the axles etc. The VIN can also be used to order a build sheet from Ford. There is more information in the Read First: FAQ thread at the top of the forum.
