International says...

I just talked with the local International dealer and they claim the block heater cord won't work for our truck. It seems like a bunch of you have already done it so.... Any chance you have a part number of the cord you got?

Fuzzy *****,
I assume it would be the 05 or 06 6.0 engine. Ford quit putting the block heater cord on as standard equipment on the 05 MY.

Sgt, I don't know the part number for those years. I bought mine at Ford and I found out later that it was alot more $$$ than at IH. I assume you are talking about 05/06?

Cool

Where is the block heater located on an 05 PSD ? so I can check and see if I need to buy a cord.
I can't belive they don't include the cord that is complete BS!!!
Fender liners, block heater cord, Glove box light ????
I know these are small things but what is going on with FORD????
My 96 had everything I even got a block heater with cord for my gas motor for only 22 dollars.

Sorry guys... Yes, it's an 05 6.0. I'll have to update my sig. Just bought it last week from Jeff Clark. (1956markII). Like I was saying, everyone says they either got screwed by Ford or bought one at an International dealer. Ours says it won't work. Obviously I don't believe them after so many guys have done it... I just need a part number to give to them.

Sarge, you sure you don't have a cord tucked WAY back behind the pssgr side fog lamp?

My '06 had it, had to go hunting for it but finally found it, was not listed as an installed option on the window sticker but low and behold there it was.

No, it's definitely not there. I can see the block heater just above the starter. There's the threads, but no cord...
I know it's not really necessary, but I'd like to have it for those real cold mornings when I go out to plow... With the remote start, I'd rather have everything relatively toasty when it first spins over and I'm not right there to listen to it.

They all have block heaters. But only the chosen few states got a cord. I don'r have a part number. I just went to the International dealer and told them what I had and they got me a cord.

I bought my 06' in New Jersey and they told me they do not put the cord's on trucks on the east coast because it does not get cold enough.

I'm sure it doesn't get cold enough for Ford to think we "need" one, but I'd still like to have it on there. Mainly for plowing. Seeing how the actual heater is already there and all it needs is a cord, I figure why not? It has to be better on -10 or even 10 degree mornings than starting up an engine with mud for oil.

I think the only difference (correct me if im wrong) is that the ford unit has little brackets taped/moleded to it to mount along trans cooler lines to keep it off the engine and out of harms way, the international i got did not, look at an 03 or 04 that has it and just be sure to rout it the same way or at least out of harms way using zip ties and such.
