I got mine from Ford. When I bought my truck they gave me umm... 15%-25% off all add-ons for a little while. I think I paid $34 straight from the dealer. I know, not quite the $20 if I would have driven 75 miles to the closest international dealer but hey, I was there and they had it in stock
Hello All,
Been looming around this great sight for a while now and I thought it was about time I submit a post. Anyways, I work for a Ford dealer in Orange County and maybe I can be of some help. The part # that you need for the cord should be 5C3Z-6B018-AA. I hope this helps!
Definitely helps Redneck. Thanks!
I'm going to take a run over to the International dealer today and see what they're saying won't fit. In person always turns out better results than a phone call...
Just got back from International. Here's the deal: the cord they use on their trucks won't work. They use 220v cords and rarely 110v at this facility I guess. The old timer sent the kid out back to look if they had anything laying around and he came back with the right one! He said it was in a pile of other cords. I guess this place only does really heavy service and not the lighter duty... I dunno. Looking out front I'd have to agree. They had some pretty sick rigs. 220v for a block heater though? Either way, I have my cord for a whopping $10. Now for a nice custom install... We don't need no stinkin' hanging cords. West Marine is my next stop on the way home.
Just crawled under my truck to see if I had a block heater.Found the heater where you said it would be.Closer inspection revealed an orange cord wrapped in a loom.Followed the loom and the cord changed to black and ended up as a plug by the passenger side fog light. There is no mention of the block heater on my window sticker options and like I said in a previous post the dealer said it was an option.Go figure. Now all I need is cold weather.
I just went under mine ??
Is the block heater located right above the starter?
It feels like that soft plug has two pins sticking out of it but no cord is it maybe wrapped up on the frame?
If not I am pissed this is crap how could they sell a Diesel in Pa without the cord????
These little things make me mad I know it's small but heck what good is the heater without the plug???? It gets cold here in Pa. I plugged in my 351W in the winter my old heater was the best 22.00 dollar option I ever got.
Let me know what you think before I call the dealer and ask him for a cord for free.
Thanks for letting me vent a little I know I am sweating the small stuff but my past FORDS were never like this when did all this screwing the customer at every chance start?
Thanks for listening.

You found the connection, but it sounds like you don't have a cord either. My truck came from Southern PA in a dealer trade to Van Bortel. No cord...
To be honest with you all, I don't think in this case Ford is screwing us. We don't really NEED the cord in most states including Mass. From the research I've done, our trucks are fine down to a pretty low temp. I just want mine for those cold mornings when I'm in a rush to get out plowing so I can get back to bed (ya right...). I just want to make sure the truck is good and warm before I start pushing snow.
I'm sure it doesn't get cold enough for Ford to think we "need" one, but I'd still like to have it on there. Mainly for plowing. Seeing how the actual heater is already there and all it needs is a cord, I figure why not? It has to be better on -10 or even 10 degree mornings than starting up an engine with mud for oil.
Sgt,
The block heater warms the coolant (not the oil). It will obviously make starting easier and help the motor warm up quicker as the coolant is already warm... but the real key is using the proper weight oil for towing, summer, winter and the like.
I am switching to synth at my next oil change after 56,000 miles of dino oil (no problems though). I wan the easier starting benefits of synth oil (5W-40) for the winter and operational benefits.
Just so everyone knows I have used Motorcraft oil (15W-40) and filters since day 1 for 56,000 with zero problems (just have to let warm up in winter before driving).
