Powersteering pump

Well my p/s pump is finally giving up the ghost after 38 yrs
I have to fill it at least twice a week. The front bearing is really, really loose.

I checked my local autoparts(private store) and for $56 I can get a new pump! Yahoo!!
So this weekend I will be installing it(after I figure how to get pump out of reseviour(sp?) It's been really quiet, not giving me any grief, but now I can't keep fluid for more than a couple days. Won't have to worry about inner fender EVER rusting out!

Now, if I can figure out how to double the fuel mileage

38 years....just getting broken in if you can gat a pump With the reservoir, it would be a good idea. there is a large oring that seals pump to body..most of the time, the dings in the p/s can do not match the new pump....which leads to leaks don't forget to flush the gearbox & install new lines

Ya, already have new lines on it.
The listing said pump w/ reservoir.....so I guess I'll find out tomorrow what I get.

I'm hoping that it all works out. Be really great if I fix one leak to make another?? Geez!

Try riding a bike to work. I've been doing that for the past 3-4 weeks at 20 miles round trip. It doesn't double my mileage but it does double-triple how long a tank lasts. It used to be a tank a week. Got two weeks out of my last couple tanks. I figure I'm saving about $5 a day doing this and it looks like I'm gonna be saving more than that. The cool thing is that I'm awake when I get to work instead of taking til noon to wake up.

kinda like when you were in school....17 miles, barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways
but seriously folks..i'd do mass transit 2-4 days a week, if they had a system worth a **** in Ft Worth.
But they don't, and a bike to work would be like taking your life in your hands around here

Ya, we have a "better", more interactive bus system around here between towns, but it would take HOURS to get to work that way between waiting on switch-overs and such. It's only a $1, but there again getting up a 4am to get there??? Not!

BTW, I picked up the pump Fri. Looks the same as mine(only shiny black paint). I hope to get it installed today. It' was $56, which I thought was pretty reasonable
