at the truck stop for some reason its holding steady around here for $2.799. it took a $.25 jump before thursday though. I'm not driving anywhere this weekend.
What kind of restrictions are being lifted? Can I throw a hay bale in the back of my truck and say im using it for farm use? I can't believe the Chicago ***** would let me do that.
from my understanding if u have off-road fuel u can run it in your truck until the 15th of this month
The feds are allowing commercial and others vehicles to run red.
This does not say all diesels.
The states are not cutting John Q. Public any breaks and allowing them to run red.
The states collect the revenue for the feds.
So bottom line is the states will probably pocket the revenue.
The commercial vehicles all have to submit tax returns that show miles run in each state, fuel bought in each state and taxes paid in each state every quarter.
It would be easy to issue tax credits to them or charge them road tax if required. They have been doing that for years if you buy to much fuel in one state and not enough in the next, the state you bought to much in issues a credit. The one you did not buy enough in sends you a bill for the use tax owed.
But as all things the government does, if you owe it is due now.
If they owe you, it will be there in a couple of months.
You know, here in San Jose it is around $3.45. I always thought that since diesel was refined less and without the god awful MTBE stuff that causes cancer and we have it by state mandate to use it (or go to 76 and buy their overpriced gas) diesel should be cheaper than gas, like it was in the 70's.
I read an article in a turbodiesel or truck mag (can't remember) and the editor started out saying the same thing, but NOW we EXPORT a lot of our diesel out of country because the refineries can get MUCH MORE for it abroad. So even though our production is up (before Katrina, anyway) they are exporting enough that our supply is pinched, so the price goes up and up and up.
Dave Barbieri. Try places like Catfish King. I'm from Tyler and my best suplier is a Catfish place. Great oil and they use lots of it. The trick is getting in with people. Be prepared to cater to them(No pun intended).
Thanks for the idea. Initially, I'll use virgin canola to brew my bioD. As I gain experience, I'll begin switching to WVO for my fuel stock. Price drops considerably, and by then I'll know what to do with the increased acidity and other contaminants. I'll definitely put catfish King on the list! One step at a time, my goal is to step outside the energy loop.
we need a national boycott gas day is what we need to stop these price gougeing sons of bit**es...... but unfornately that will never happen
Wouldn't work anyway, everyone would just buy more fuel the day before and they day after so the $$$ wouldn't change. The oil companies would have a good laugh.
