I have a 1971 f-100 2wd that I'm currently running passenger car tires on. i would like to get some kind of truck tire for my truck because I do alot of hauling and towing. I have the 15 inch steel wheels that were stock on the truck. I'm thinking about something with a high sidewall. Thanks for the info.
I have seen LT235/75R16 tires, most 31x10.5 tires are truck rated, as well as 30x9.5 tires. IIRC, General makes a 30x9.5 that is an all-season tread and LT rated.
I have been running the Liberator tires from Wal-Mart. They are made by BF Goodrich, I believe. Not all things from Wally-world are good, but I like their tires and tire department so far. John.
All you need to do is make sure there is "LT" in the size markings. Like Crewzmaster said, the liberator is a decent LT tire (LT is a heavier duty "light truck" tire)
Larry, You will give up some ride quality going to LT. The P series tires carry a pretty high load weight rate on them. If you look down near the rim, you will see the load capicity. Add all 4 together and I don't think you can get that much weight on your truck.
I am in no way suggesting that you not buy the LT tire if that is what you want.
I run P235 75R 15 on my truck and my next purchase will be P255 70 15. The tire is the same size but has a wider tread. I like that look better. my 2
