It is almost time for me to head back to school, so I am forced to start preparing to store my truck for the winter. The truck will be stored in a barn, so it will be out of the rain/snow, but it will still get nice and cold in there.
Any suggestions for precautions I should take for the winter months?
I'm thinking: A nice cover, gas line antifreeze, critter proofing, ...what else?
Verify the antifreeze is good and strong. Maybe block the axles up in the air, as to keep the tires off the ground. Give the truck a good wash. Lay a few towels over the seat and dash board. If you have a spare tarp, place the tarp over the truck.
The more fuel in the tank the better, less condensation in the tank. I sit anything that I put in storage on jack stands, like 1975ford says, keeps the tires from getting flat spots.
Ya, but it's the 300 million tons of salt poured on the roads that makes me keep mine inside til we get a few good rains to wash the roads. That salt dust gets everywhere. Our roads around here get pure WHITE most of the winter.
