Anybody have the Bully Dog shift kit in there truck (part# 151000). Just got the kit for my birthday and I am a little hesitant to install it. I tow a very heavy race car trailer and I dont want the tranny to blow up. Any opinions??
I assume you are talking about the sonix valve, and tri-cumulator springs??? from B-Dog.
I did one in my buddies truck. it shift real nice, a firm solid shift, but not a snap your neck, blow apart U-joints shift. I wouldn't worry about it to much.
be VERY carefully when you drop the accumulator body, the gasket likes to stick to both the body, AND the tranny. we ended up ripping his in a few places, and no one around had it. had to piece it back together and run it.
Thanks for the input. Did the kit change when the tranny shifts? Mine shifts OD early (42mph) and it drives me nuts!!
The shift parameters are controlled by the computer. The Mechanical kit will firm up the shifts and reduce slipping, but the shift pattern will remain the same. You can get a chip or programmer to change the shift points, or get a custom programmed PCM from DP Tuner. Hope it helps.
It better have 4.10's!! I ordered this truck brand new cause I wanted it my way. I thought the lowest gearing in a dually was 3.73's? Any way I put the shift kit in and what a difference!! That is how a truck is supposed to shift. Thanks for all your guys input.
I did the same thing last, but not by choice.
I had a torque converter seal blow and I had to drop the tranny and why I had it out a had a local tranny shop do a manitance check on it. He said that the clutch pack looked brand new, so why it was there I has the shift kit installed and now you feel every shift like it should have been from the factory. I also have a Buldog chip, but don't know if it has any effect on the shifting or line pressure or not but it does feel better now when I drive it.
So I'm happy...
