Was wondering if anyone else has or is dealing with these? If so was do you take and does it work? I personally have had this problem for 4 to 5 years cant remember exactly when they started. For those of you that dont know what these are: It is the same headache everyday usually only effecting 1 side of the head. Sometimes they are horrible and sometime mild but always there. I personally take about 50 B.C. Powders(crushed asprin and caffine) a week. I would let a doctor cut off my left arm to go a week without a headache! How bout you.
P.S. If you drink everyday and have a hangover every morning its not the same. HAHA
My little brother gets these kind of headaches. We just started him on a dose of Rexall brand Flax, Fish Borage Oil which contains Omega 3-6-9. I take them instead of blood pressure meds that I was taking for years. These are available at most Walmarts. He hasn't had one since Sunday. Our fingers are crossed as he is among the rare licenced gunners in the state. He doesn't necessarily play with a full deck when he has these headaches. Might give them a try as they cost about $8.00 per hundred and if nothing else, the Omegas are great for your health. He takes one a day in the AM just as I do. I sincerely hope this helps, I have seen him suffer and it isn't fun.
I get them occasionally, usually from bright light or driving along with something between me and the sun, making it flash. I have tried most over-the-counter pain pills, they don't do anything on it. I did notice, though, when I was taking Naproxin for an injury, that I didn't get a single headache. So maybe doubling up on Aleve or something?
Headaches every day. For me, they are a part of life. Years ago, my doctor gave me a prescription for Fiorinal (without codeine.) Pronounced Fear-n-all, as I'm told. Generic name is Butalbitol (sp?). Headache is gone in less than 30 minutes. (I take this very rarely. I don't want to build up an immunity to it, or have my body get used to it.)
Tylenol or Advil, I might as well eat a sugar cube.
Anacin works o.k. Anacin will take the 'edge' off of a headache.
I took Naprosin (Naporxin Sodium) for my knees several years ago. A/ka 'Aleve'.
One side effect is "Bartender's Droop." Sorry. . . . don't need that. Also, from the doctor's opinion, it takes a couple of days for the drug to start being effective.
ryn6609 - Have you had your eyes checked? Do you read a lot?? My doctor said that eye strain would cause Baaaaaadddd headaches.
The best thing ive ever done to quit having headaches is to quit taking advil, and tylenol 2s. I was having headaches every day, and I would take 2 advil and a tylenol 2, then I went to a new doctor and he told me to quit taking these, and now I dont have a 1/4 as many headaches as I used to have. Im not sure how exactly this helped, but I thought I should pass it along.

I get headaches on the left side. I find that weight lifting kills my headaches. When I start my three day tuna and water diet routine I get a doozy of a headache that starts at the end of the first day and lasts until the next morning when it is replaced by "marshmallow head" or "head fog" which makes my head feel like it's full of marshmallows and detached from your body about a 1/4". That headache is just caused by my brain using something other than carbs for fuel. Other than that I don't get too many headaches, but they can really make a person suffer. My sister gets them big time. Toothaches are what make me "suicidal."
nice to know im not the only one, well not really nice but ya know what i mean. I have 1 right now. I do need to get my eyes checked but i had them before last checkup. i have tried every pill from tylenol motrin excedrin(and all its varieties) asprin aleve nothing works. I even have tramadol and ergotamine for the dr. Even when I have taken vicodin and other heavier meds it took the pain away from whatever else was bothering me but the headache still came. like someone said earlier you learn to live with em but that doesnt mean thats a good thing. I take so much freakin b.c. powder my stomach is screwed.

You got addicted to the pills, really. Just like roaches develop immunity or resistance to spray, you've got the same thing going on.
I used to get migraines, various parts of me would get dull pains when the weather changed....I had stabbing sensations coming from my elbows one summer in middle school or high school, you name it.
My mom works for a chiropractor. The Sunday I could not bend down to put my dress shoes on before going to church, I got her to get me X-rayed and I had a few pinched nerves and subluxations. A little longer and I would have had some vertebrae in my neck turned enough to pinch enough nerves to paralyze me.
Needless to say, I don't make a habit of being a STOMACH SLEEPER anymore.
Do what you want. I ain't making a pitch for all chiros, since some can be goofs like in any other profession, but an adjustment will solve some of the issues mentioned here.

Both my husband and daughter are prone to getting migraines. He used to get them quite regularly up until a few years ago. Then they tapered off. Only gets them occasionally now. Started when he was about 16. Our daughter is 19 and started getting them a couple of years ago. His maternal grandmother suffered from them too from the symptoms his mother told me. She just suffered from bad sinus headaches herself and Anacin was all that helped her.
My husband learned to control his with deep breathing and sitting still in a quiet room once he "sees" the "aura"/squiggly lights coming from the corner of his eyes. He used to take all sorts of pills but they never worked completely. The migraines would last only a day but he feels like having a hangover the next. Our daughter suffers for several days with these. To take the edge off, she takes extra strength Tynenol. Nothing else seems to do it.
Fortunately, our 22 year old son just gets stress headaches and few of them. I rarely get any headaches at all.

The mercury in the tuna probably doesn't help either. Could be your overly sensitive to mercury.
Don't know if there's any truth to this, but saw a health show while back...this type of malady is almost unknown in countries where the diet is completely different than our Western tastes for complex carbs, trans fats, fried foods and red meat. Has to do with cumulative effect on your arteries...ie inelasticity. Seems diets with simple proteins/carbs and low carbs is more healthy. I love steak and bread and taters as much as the next guy, but I'd be tempted to try a dietary change.

The brand of tuna I eat doesn't have near as much mercury as others. It also tastes much better than the crap we buy at the local stores. Small, young fish (before they get old enough to suck up all the mercury) are hand picked, packed into the can by hand and cooked inside the can after it is sealed up. All the natural oils and flavor are retained.
But I have to confess, sometimes I forego tuna on the third day and use chicken instead. Chicken strips fried in olive oil with salt and pepper. I feel like I'm cheating but the weight still comes off. A whole lot of water and a potasium pill every day and I do real good. It sure breaks the junk food habit and gets me back to a healthy long term diet. Everytime I want to reach for a chili dog I think about three days of tuna and water and I end up reaching for the salad instead. Good eating habits are a life long program.

It's pretty much right on. This country eats too much in both calories and sugared foods. Sugar makes us hungry so we end up eating more. A good piece of red meat is OK now and then but this country eats too much. Simple carbs like berries and fruit have alot of natural sugar which gets realesed into our blood stream gradually. Raw sugar hits us instantly giving us a blood sugar spike that we don't need. That's why kids climb walls after drinking a soda.
A good daily calorie ratio is 30% protein like fish and chicken, 40% simple/complex carbs and 30% healthy fats like fish oil, olive oil, etc. Good sensible long term eating habits will take us alot farther than any fad diet that takes wild swings to one side or the other. Raw sugar and too many calories are our worst enemies.
Many vegetariens don't get enough protein and that is why they look pale and thin. If they would increase their protein they would do much better. Eating five smaller meals everyday keeps our energy level and blood sugar level even through out the day. We would not get those roller coaster rides that we get on three bigger meals. If we eat a big breakfast then by the time we eat lunch 5 or 6 hours later we are starving and we end up eating too much. We get slow (not enough movement to burn off those extra calories) and tired from all that food and by the time dinner rolls around 5 or 6 hours later we are starved again and end up eating too much. Then we lay in bed hurting all night. Skipping meals dosen't help. We end up tired from the lack of food and don't move enough to burn up the calories we do take in. Any weight loss we experience is only temporary. Sooner or later we will get tired of starving and just pig-out at the next meal and make up for it.
Learn about nutrition, practice good eating habits, exercise everyday and stay away from all those fad diet books. Proper life long eating habits and daily exercise is where it's at. Why is the whole country over-weight but the professional athletes, like bodybuilders, runners and cyclists are not?
