Why is it that Motorcraft oil is not in the top three of desired oils? I use MC 5W-20 in my '03 Sable and it returns outstanding UOA. I am expecting the same with MC 15W-40 for my truck too.
Today I'm changing oil for the first time in my '05 F-350 with MC 15W-40 at the dealership. It is my understanding that this is the best oil for the 6.0L. Why? Ford service told me it's because MC has more anti-foaming addidtives.
I have read (somewhere) that the factory fill is 10W-30 for break-in and that you should leave it in for the full OCI. I have 4893 miles with heavy towing for 2500 miles.
Now, what I find funny with all of this is: Some say that MC 5W-20 is too thin and is used only because of CAFE. Others say that MC 15W-40 is too thick. But both groups both agree that they know more than Ford on what is best....lol
i think the reason more people don't use it is because it only comes in quart containers not gallons. but it is also the same price as all the other oils 1.98. i wish it had moly though but it is still a fine oil. i have used it and lots of the other brands of diesel oil in my truck.
