Have been looking for an armrest for the driver's
side door. Have been to aftermarket shop and
even the local truck junker. (He had 8-hole 16"
spare and a power steering fluid dipstick tho.)
Nada.
Ideas please?
(Not sure if I'm s'posed to post each question in it's
own thread or put them all in one -- I have
more.)

Reason: Truck year, model
If you have a bunch of stuff that pertains to the same truck, go ahead and ask away in the same post. You do have an hour to edit each post, and if you remember something after that, PM me and I can add it in.
You may want to try the Motorhaven parts store here, or LMC.
I'm surprised my truck junker didn't mention the
vans. I'll ask him the next time I go over there.
My other question (for now) had to do with starter
drag. Sometimes the truck fires right up when I turn
the starter and other times it drags and slows before
the engine turns over. Just looking for possible
causes.
Armrests: I got mine for my 67 from eBay. I saw a very nice set for a 67 (red) awhile ago that went for $32.
Starting: If you have and FE engine and the problem occurs when the engine is hot and you have headers, that is a classic symptom of imminent starter failure. Otherwise, I agree with the too advanced diagnosis. Your advance for an FE should be six or eight degrees BTDC.
That's what I've got, though. It'll fire up great the first
two or three times I start it (we usually run all errands at once
so to save gas on the back and forthing) and then all of a sudden
it'll take five seconds or more for it to turn over.
Better to know now than if it strands me somewhere.
How imminent? Any minute or is there an interim fix until
I can figure out where, how, can I do it myself?

Well, that's hard to say but I think this would be a good time to try your hand at putting in a new starter. You can get one at AutoZone for $30 or so. Trouble is you will likely have the same issue after awhile. The conventional wisdom says you should buy or fabricate some kind of heat shield around your starter to deflect some of the heat coming from the headers. There are several threads on different methods so just run a search for "heat shield" or something like that. The biggest pain is getting the starter by those headers. You have to unbolt them on that side and then, of course, replace the gasket. Some guys disconnect the motor mounts and lift the engine a tad too. Good luck.
Here's a photo of what it looks like all cleaned up. The top bolt will test your patience!

And that's why I am taking full advantage of the underhood space in my 72, and running the headers forward, up, then to the rear and down right by the firewall.
