Hello just aqquired a 1973 shortbed it has a mustang 5.0 and a mustang 5 speed i wanna know how can i fix the window it rolls down on its own how can i fix it
My 1973 did the same thing. The window regulators were stripped. Can you roll them up by moving the glass, without using the crank?
I replaced both my doors with one from a 1978. I did that cause, for one the windows would crank, and for two it had factory tint windows in them. It needed a new windshield at the time, so... Factory tint all around. except for rear window. Sold it in 1992 that way.
It would be more simple to replace the window regulators, in the doors I imagine.
You need to remove in door trim panel (take off the window handle, inner door handle and armrest then the inner panel) and change the window regulator. There is a little more to it but once you get in there it's not too trickey.
After removing the door regulator, use brake caliper grease on the window rail where the window regulator mounts to. Also use this grease on the gear for the window requlator. This will help to raise and lower the window.
one question has anyone tried to swap in power window motor to make em power? or anyone tried the Electric life power window kit?
Check out this thread. Read through to the posts by 73custom, great ideas and the price is right. With the price of gas the way it is, this will be my winter project instead of snowmobiling every weekend. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=390715
