Has anyone had problems with their front cowl rusting through the bottom? My vent louvers just in front of the windshield have a severe rust problem on the underside just inside the engine compartment. I had never noticed it until I reached up there one day and felt the chunks falling off. What should I do with this problem??? Its really bad as in 2" chunks just sluffing off the bottom (it is not visible by looking through the louvers from above. It actually looks very good from above.). Does anyone sell replacement panels for the bottom part of the cowl? I just bought some POR-15 and a fiberglass sheet that is supposed to cover severe rust but I don't think that it will fix the problem from the top side. Sure, it may stop the rust on the bottom side but I can't get to the top part that is rusting. It is a problem to say the least. Any suggestions?
I have never experienced a cowl problem on a F-series Ford here in Nebraska but with the moisture in Washington any leaves or debris that can settle in the bottom of your cowl will hold the moisture there. I am not sure how it is repaired but I do know that on the early (64-66 ) Mustangs this is a problem depending upon what part of the country they come from. They do sell patch panels for the mustangs but I don't ever rember seeing them for a F-series. Check a mustang web site for help. Just about anything or any problem is repairable some problems take more $$ than others. Hope this helps.
I had a cab with that problem seems it rusted out the seem under the cowl the only way i saw to repair it was either pull the eng/tranny or pull the cab to get at it and fabrcate a patch pannel as this is a structual piece of the cab. Luckily I fouynd a replacement cab for 400.00 and just did a cab swap

Thats what I thought it would come to. I wish there was an easier way.
